Berlinale day 6
2025-02-18
my promised slow day, i slept in to regain energy and all i did was attend two panels, both insightful in very different ways, the first being about queer filmmaking with a variety of filmmakers and festival programmers to talk about the potential of queer storytelling and finding ways of realizing those stories as well as the fear and uncertainty of putting these stories out there and trying to find audiences for them. the second was a panel on sound design with Lebanese sound designer Rana Eid about how her background of growing up in Beirut during the civil war in Lebanon motivated her work featuring examples from some films she worked at. anyways today i've only seen one film actually, again taking it slow, i'll pick up the pace again tomorrow.
